RDRS distributes more relief goods

The RDRS (Rangpur-Dinajpur Rural Services), a non-governmental organisation, has provided food relief worth over Tk 18 million to about 30,400 flood-affected people in Kurigram and Lalmonirhat Districts.
As immediate assistance in the second phase, the RDRS is distributing relief goods such as rice, lentil, edible oil, salt, biscuit, candles, matches and soap to 15,000 families in Kurigram district with fund from DFID Bangladesh. With assistance from WFP and UNICEF, the RDRS is also distributing high energy biscuits to 10,400 families in Kurigram District.
The RDRS will further provide relief assistance worth over Tk 4.8 million to 5,000 families in Lalmonirhat district with fund from the UNDP. The relief package contains chira, gur, water purifying tablets, sachets of ORS, mosquito net, carbolic soaps, laundry soaps, candles, match box, saree, lungee and gamcha. RDRS also received Tk 68,656 from the World Bank, Dhaka to assist flood victims in Lalmonirhat District.
Earlier, RDRS distributed emergency relief in Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts utilising Tk 5.3 million. The relief materials included tarpaulins, foodstuff, tubewells, latrines, and health items.
