Ready for the second wave?

Sunday, 25 October 2020

After the once-in-a-century pandemic has shattered life and livelihoods almost everywhere, we are now being told that another wave of higher cases of infection of Covid-19 is coming in the winter. That, according to experts, could be twice as terrible as the present one. Hit in a variety of ways, Bangladesh still looks resilient but let's not ignore in any way the suffering of the people due to coronavirus impacts.
Maybe financially and otherwise exhausted, the people of Bangladesh would find it hard to overcome the challenges of the second wave of Covid-19. So it's important for authorities concerned to change the gear of preparations. There is higher pollution during the winter in Bangladesh and people suffer asthmatic problems. Fresh restrictions may be required, alongside readying healthcare system for providing services. Also, the government would need to offer generous packages for the most vulnerable people.
