Reckit Benckiser, Citycell join hands in cleaning city during Eid-ul-Azha

Country`s lone CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phone operator Citycell and Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) have joined hands with Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) to keep Dhaka city clean during Eid-ul-Azha. Under the joint initiative, Reckit Benckiser and Citycell provided more than 700 litres of disinfectant Dettol to the Corporation on Thursday in a ceremony. Chief Waste Management Officer of the DCC Captain B K Saha said this year almost 0.4 million sacrificial animals will be slaughtered during Eid-ul-Azaha which will produce 22 thousand tonnes of garbage. "Our 11 thousand workers will be ready to clean this garbage," he said and expressed the hope that The Corporation would be able to clean the city within three days. Mr Saha also said the workers will wash the areas of slaughter after removing garbage. In this work, it will use seven water tanks including two water tanks of DCC, two of WASA, two of Fire Service and one water tank of Navy. Besides, 100 vehicles gifted by JICA will be involved in the cleaning operation during this time, he added. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Citycell will also distribute cleanliness awareness leaflets and small bottles of Dettol to customers and traders in different cattle markets in Dhaka during Eid-ul-Azha. Head of Market Communications of Citycell Syed Tanzin Huq and HR (Human Resources) Director of Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) Limited Sanzid Alvi Ahmed, among others, were present on the occasion.
