Recognise migrants as dev agents: Global experts
Wednesday, 30 April 2014
The two-day global experts meeting on migration and the post-2015 development agenda has ended with a call for recognising migrants as ‘development agents’. The meeting closed with a set of recommendations that include ensuring migration as a cross-cutting enabler for sustainable development. The recommendations will be placed appropriately before the United Nations, including at the Open-ended Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (OWG-SDGs) through dedicated sections under relevant focus areas, and other relevant platforms, a Foreign Ministry media release said on Tuesday. The meeting recommended ensuring positive contributions of migrants to societies of origin, transit and destination are acknowledged and enhanced, according to UNB.
