Red Star Belgrade still strong, says Rangers boss

GLASGOW, Aug 14 (AFP): Rangers manager Walter Smith has warned his side not to underestimate the threat of Red Star Belgrade ahead of their Champions League qualifier at Ibrox Tuesday.
The Serbian side, known locally as Crvena Zvezda, won the European Cup in 1991 and defeated Rangers - when Smith was assistant to manager Graeme Souness - 4-1 on aggregate on the way.
However, Red Star are not the side they once were and it has been suggested the Glasgow team should comfortably claim their place in the lucrative group stage of the Champions League.
