Reform, joint forces

CHITTAGONG, June 05: Chittagong Customs House (CCH) has realised a huge amount of revenue of around Taka 105 billion during last six months due to strong supervision and monitoring of the joint forces and the reform works. This amount was Taka 5.98 billion more than the target, CCH sources said.
Apart from that, realisation rate of different outstanding amounts of money including unexhibited merchant overtime, duties of goods carried by the scrap vessels, dues against writ cases, had been remarkable, joint forces sources said.
According to the concerned sources, a committee had been formed on November-1 last year to enhance dynamism and efficiency of the CCH and ensure accountability. Reform programmes of Customs are being conducted through this committee. On the basis of the information revealed through this committee, different steps were taken including abolition of various irregularities persisting at CCH and augmenting the volume of revenue.
It is gathered, during last 6 months, from November upto May 5, a target of revenue collection of taka 100.03 billion was set while revenue realisation was taka 105 billion.
Sources further said, Magnetic entrance had been launched at the CCH during last 6 months, 606 nos of Proximity ID card had been distributed.
Moreover monitored by the joint forces booths have been installed by BRTA, Quarantine, Forest, Department of Environment, BSTI, PSI.
