Reforms to make VAT law people friendly: Muhith

SYLHET, Mar 12 (UNB): Finance Minister AMA Muhith said Saturday that steps are underway to reform the VAT law to make it people-friendly.
Speaking at a view-exchange meeting here the minister said in fact the government has taken initiative to reform all the existing laws relating to revenue collection to make them friendly to the people.
He said the suggestions put forward at the meeting would be helpful in formulating new law in connection
with revenue in next June. Law will also be enacted as alternative to the existing ones to resolve the dispute over customs duty, income tax and VAT.
