Regent Airways has signed up contracts and Letter of Intents (LoI) with the Canadian pilot training company CAE and the German airline IT solutions giant Lufthansa Systems to provide the Airline with world-class pilot training and IT-based optimization solutions, respectively.
Regent, the upcoming start-up airline from Bangladesh owned by Chittagong-based conglomerate Habib Group, signed the exclusive contract with CAE covers pilot training for Bombardier Dash-8 Q300, Boeing 757, and Boeing 767 types of aircraft.
The first batch of pilots will be off to CAE's facility at Spain for training sessions in early May and the second batch will follow shortly after in late-May/early-June, executive consultant of the Regent Airways Imran Asif told the FE.
CAE is a world leader in providing simulation and modelling technologies and integrated training solutions for the civil aviation industry and defence forces around the globe. It has the largest installed base of civil and military full-flight simulators and training devices, trains more than 75,000 crewmembers yearly.
The LoI (letter of intent) with Lufthansa Systems covers the areas of operations optimization, revenue management, flight planning, route manuals and electronic load sheets, Mr Imran elaborated.
Regent believes that the deployment and utilization of these solutions will allow the youngest airline company to operate with high levels of safety and efficiency as is the case with the other customers of Lufthansa Systems including Singapore Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways.
Regent Airways received the go-ahead from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) to set up the fleet and infrastructure of the airline in March 2010 and is currently undergoing the process of receiving the operational approval from the CAAB.
