Regent Airways to procure four aircraft

Regent Airways, the upcoming startup private airline from Bangladesh owned by Chittagong Based Conglomerate Habib Group has signed up Letter of Intents (LOI) for the acquisition of two Dash-8-Q300 and two Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
With the aim to commence commercial operation shortly, the youngest airlines company has signed procurement agreement with German operator Augsburg Airways and another international leasing company for the aircraft of two different categories, company CEO Imran Asif told the FE.
"The Canadian manufactured 50-seater Dash-8-Q300s are being acquired by outright purchase while the two-class category 170-seater Boeing 757-200s are to be inducted into the fleet on lease," Mr Asif explained.
The aircraft would be deployed gradually to operate on Regent's domestic and mid-haul international routes, he added.
Regent Airways-- the youngest airlines company received NOC from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Bangladesh in April of this year, registering itself as the 11th private airlines of the country.
HG Aviation Ltd, the mother organization of the Regent Airways has also acquired 500,000 square feet land-space from CAAB on annual rent basis to constrict a full flagged aircraft hanger with capacity to accommodate six wide-body aircraft at a time.
Besides these four initial aircraft, Regent Airways plans to supplement its fleet with further two wide-body aircraft within the first twelve months of operation, focusing the long-haul routes, Mr Asif added.
Expressing optimism, the company official said that the fleet planning of the airline, together with the development of its human resources and infrastructure, are targeted to set a new height of standard in the local aviation industry.
The airline plans to build a fleet over the next five years which shall have an average age of under 10 years, and will adhere to the highest safety standards of the global airlines industry, Mr Asif announced.
