Regional SME fair kicks off today in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Oct 22 (BSS): The three-day Regional SME Product Fair-2014-2015 kicks off here from tomorrow (Thursday) with a view to flourishing local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for accelerating uplift and enhance economic growth.
The fair is being organised by SME Foundation at Public Library ground to promote local SME sector, enhance production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.
This was disclosed at a press conference arranged by SME Foundation at Public Library Hall in the city today with its General Manager Md Mujibur Rahman in the chair.
Deputy General Manager (Programme) of SME Foundation Fahim Bin Aslam and its Deputy General Manager (Information) Nurul Alam were present at the conference.
The general manager of SME Foundation elaborated the goals and objectives of the Regional SME Fair and answered various questions raised by the reporters.
Managing Director of SME Foundation KM Habib Ullah will formally inaugurate the fair as the chief guest.
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht, Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad and President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu will attend the ceremony as the special guests.
Different SME institutions, women entrepreneurs of all divisional cities, district towns and rural areas from allover the country, RCCI, Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry will set up 66 stalls in the fair.
A vast spectrum of locally produced SME goods including leather products, jute-made products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products will be exhibited in the fair.
The speakers laid special emphasis on involving more female entrepreneurs in flourishing local SME sector to accelerate the pace of national development through enhancing national economic growth and poverty alleviation.
They said the weeklong National SME Fair will be arranged at the Outer Pavement of the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital from February 15 to 21 in 2015 next.
Besides, SME Fairs will be arranged at Rajshahi from November 20 to 22 next, Rangamati in December next, Cox's Bazaar in January, Jessore and Barisal in March, Sylhet and Gopalganj in April 2015 next.
The general manager of SME Foundation sought cooperation of all concerned, including media, for successful arrangement of the country's first Regional SME Product Fair in Rangpur.
