Rehab donates Tk 2.5m to government fund

FE REPORT | Thursday, 26 March 2020

The country's realtors on Wednesday extended Tk 2.5 million in support to the government to help contain the spread of new coronavirus.
President of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh, or Rehab, Alamgir Shamsul Alamin transferred the money to government fund through state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid.
Talking to the FE, Mr Alamin said the government could use the money to procure personal protective equipment (PPE) and Covid-19 test kits.
"We are now going through a severe crisis due to the pandemic, which has been taking a huge toll on countries around the world, including Bangladesh," the Rehab president said, adding that everyone should come forward to save the nation.
He urged all concerned not to press the government to meet their demands in such a critical moment, but extend support in all possible means.
The trade body leader requested people to stay home according to the government order.
Mr Alamin also said the Rehab has already requested its members to ensure safety measures in the under-construction sites.
"We requested the people engaged in construction to wash hands, maintain social distancing and abide by every directive from the government," he added.
