REHAB winter fair draws sizable crowd

Defying the chilly weather, a good number of visitors rushed the REHAB winter fair Friday to search for their desired flats and plots.
Participants are eying better business this fair taking the prevailing stable political situation into consideration.
They said visitors are interested to find an economic flat in middle-income group zones like Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Malibagh, Kalyanpur and other areas of the city.
"We got poor presence of visitors in the morning due to cold weather, but by evening the scenario has totally changed. We are receiving good number of visitors," Md Nazrul Islam, deputy manager marketing and sales of Amin Mohammad Foundation told the FE.
He said most of the visitors collect information of different real estate companies and after studying they come to us at the end of the fair.
"This year, the political situation is comparatively stable than the previous years. So the customers are showing interest to invest in the real estate sector. We have sold around four flats and received enquires of above 25 flats of different locations. We have got good response from the NRBs (Non Resident of Bangladeshis)," he said.
Mr Islam said the lowest and highest range of per square feet is between Tk 5,500 at Mirpur and Tk 30,000 at Ghulshan, Baridhara, and Banani.
Md Shaifuddin Mahmud, deputy manager (sales and marketing) of Boshudha Builders Ltd said the company sold flats, plots and commercial space worth Tk 60 million till evening Friday and hopeful to sell flats, plots and commercial another Tk 100 million by the end of this fair.
DM Saklayen, assistant general manager marketing and sales of Biswas Builders Ltd, said the company sold one flat in the fair, but expressed the hope that a few flats could be sold by the end of this fair.
For the first time in REHAB fair a German lift company named Schneider and an online property service provider named Lamudi.com.bd participated in the fair for the second time.
There will be 150 stalls in the fair. Among these 17 will be for construction materials sanitary ware, tiles, lift and five banks and financial institutions.
