Friday, 19 December 2014

Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of the ruling Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, called upon the people of the country Thursday to reject with hatred the remarks of a drug-addict and mentally imbalanced person like BNP leader Tarique Rahman, reports BSS.
"We urge all the conscious people of the country to reject with hatred the statements of a drug-addict and mentally imbalanced person like Tarique Rahman strongly condemning him," he said while speaking at a press conference at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.
The press conference was convened to give reply to Tarique Rahman's remarks in London against Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on December 16.
Urging all to build a united resistance against the evil-force, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "We shall urge the government to complete all the cases filed against him (Tarique Rahman) at the earliest in accordance with the people's expectations." Awami League joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni, MP, health and population affairs secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dublew, relief and social welfare affairs secretary Faridunnahar Laily, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, party's central working committee member Md Akhteruzzaman and Sujit Roy Nandi were present, among others, at the press conference.
Dr Hasan Mahmud, also chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Forests Ministry, said Tarique would have to embrace the similar fate to that of the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators had faced following the independence of the country.
"He (Tarique) and his clique would have to surrender with disgrace in the manner the brave and unarmed Bangalees compelled disgraceful surrender of Tarique's forefather, the Punjabi soldiers, in the Liberation War," the Awami League leader said.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "It was possible for an ignorant person like Tarique, who fled the country and went abroad giving undertakings on charges of terrorism, corruption and siphoning off public money, to come up with such remarks against Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman."
