Summit Oil and Shipping Limited (SOSCL) in a rejoinder to a news report titled, "LNG import cost set to skyrocket in two years," published on September 8, 2024 in The Financial Express, claimed that its long-term price signed with Petrobangla is the lowest amongst the last three long-term price awarded between June 2023 to June 2024."
FE reply: In the published news report, no comparison of LNG prices of contractors was made as the report focused on the escalation of LNG import costs after 2026 when importing of this expensive fuel will start from four new suppliers, including the SOSCL. However, sources from Petrobangla confirmed that the SOSCL's price was not the lowest of the deals signed between June 2023 to June 2024.
