Genex Infosys PLC, on Monday, clarified its position regarding news published in the 23 August 2024 issue of The Financial Express under the headline "Retail VAT collection flops on EFD setback".
In its clarification, the company has claimed that a few sections of the report on Electronic Fiscal Devices Management System (EFDMS) Implementation were not correct and unverified.
It said: "We believe in transparency and accountability and would have welcomed the chance to discuss the contents of the report to ensure an accurate representation of our action."
Genex has also claimed the data on installation of only 11,000 EFDS is 'manifestly incorrect."
"NBR has access to all required information from the system and it is well recorded that we have installed much higher EFD devices than reported. Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose the exact number due to our confidentiality obligations," it said.
Contrary to the claim made in the report, the Sales Data Controller (SDC) has been set up and deployed successfully, it said.
The company has refuted the allegation on installation of below standard EFDMS.
It is premature to draw conclusions or issue comments about the project's success or challenges at this point, it said.
