Rejoinder from Biman
Sunday, 6 June 2010
Biman administration has drawn attention to a news item headlined 'Biman floats tender for aircraft on wet-lease for Hajj operation' published in the Financial Express on May 31, 2010.
The news item elaborated on Biman's on-hand lease procurement of a Boeing 747 aircraft for hajj operation 2010, based on issued tender notice, experts opinion and supportive records.
The Biman authority has particularly raised complaint over a quote of an aviation expert who (preferred to be anonymous) said that 'Biman has always delayed in leasing aircraft on time, and made desperate move at the eleventh hours in significantly higher rates'.
Through an official rejoinder, undersigned by Biman's Deputy General Manager PR Mohammad Nasim on June 03, 2010 the management claimed that the said information do not stand valid, rather may well be termed as unfounded, baseless and far from truth.
The rejoinder also said that the Biman management decided to lease one B747 aircraft after assessment and considering estimates provided by the government. "So, as mentioned in the report that Biman would lease more aircraft is not true," the office claimed.
However, defending own position, responsible reporter for that particular news item stands determined and hereby assures all concerning departments that the provided information is on the basis of experts comments, which was later verified from different sources and Biman's own records of lease procurement.
