Release of Khaleda Zia demanded

NEW YORK, July 21 (BSS): Leaders of Khaleda Zia Mukti Antarjatik Andolon Monday demanded the release of BNP chairperson and former premier Khaleda Zia in the greater interest of a free, fair and credible polls in Bangladesh.
"The freedom of Khaleda Zia is necessary for maintaining democratic system, overall economic development and free and fair elections," the leaders of the US-based organisation said in a joint statement Sunday.
They further said the people of the country would remember Khaleda Zia with due respect for her contribution to economic development, defence of country's sovereignty, Islamic values and establishment of national unity.
They also demanded withdrawal of all cases against Khaleda Zia.
The member secretary of the organisation Belal Mahmud and coordinators Sharafat Hossain Babu and Rafiqul Chowdhury Dollar signed the statement.
