Relief distributed among flood victims

GAIBANDHA, Oct 8 (BSS): Ekota, a local NGO, distributed clothes and mosquito nets among the poor and flood-hit people of Sadar Upazila in the district Saturday.
A total of 1,500 people of Ghagoa, Kholahati and Malibari unions of Sadar Upazila were given sari, lungi and mosquito nets.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Kazi Anwarul Hakim distributed the relief items on the Ekota office premises at Kholahati under sadar upazila as the chief guest. Sultana Begum, country director of Diakonia Bangladesh was present as special guest.
Executive director of Ekota M Lutfar Rahman Mondal, chairman of respective union parishads, local elite and journalists were present on the occasion.
Another report adds: The 2-day training programme on disaster management and economic development concluded Sunday.
HEED Bangladesh organised the training programme at its office here with support from TEAR Fund of UK under its Disaster Risk Reduction Project.
The aim of the training was to create awareness on disaster preparedness for reducing losses as well as to involve people in income generating activities by rearing cow and goats.
