Wednesday, 21 December 2011

RAJSHAHI, Dec 20 (BSS): Speakers at a certificate- giving ceremony on Tuesday said religious leaders and imams can supplement the government efforts to end violence against women. They viewed that the violence trend could be reduced to a greater extent through creating awareness among imams in this regard. Imam Training Academy under its 'Involvement of Religious Leaders to resist violence against women project' organized the two- day training for the imams at its seminar hall. Deputy Director of the academy Syed Aminuddin Mahmud, who chaired the closing session, said Islam never allows violence and repression against women. So, he said the social disease could be eliminated through raising awareness among the imams and muazzins of all mosques about curses of repressions and violence against women.
