Relocate poultry stalls from hospital gate
Thursday, 30 April 2026
Recently, a makeshift chicken market has been set up at the main gate of Bangladesh Homeopathic Medical College Hospital, located on Toynbee Circular Road, Wari, in the capital. On the one hand, it is one of the busiest areas of the city; on the other hand, traders have opened chicken stalls around the college building creating an unsafe and unhygienic environment, adding to noise and air pollution. This is causing unbearable suffering to the students, teachers, patients and doctors of the Homeopathic Medical College.
Hundreds of students and patients coming to the hospital from far away, relatives of patients, and even passers-by are disturbed by the unhygienic atmosphere at the hospital gate. The level of foul smell stemming from the market is so high that it is next to impossible to stay in classrooms or hospital areas, even wearing a mask.
In such a situation, we request the government authorities concerned to restore the educational and medical service environment of Bangladesh Homeopathic Medical College Hospital by removing or relocating the chicken market as soon as possible.
