Remain alert about mealybugs

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid urged all to be careful and remain alert about mealybug insects that have thrown people into panic recently.
He made the call while addressing a press briefing on the giant mealybugs at his office.
Mentionable, mealybugs broke out at the College of Home Economics in the city recently. Some teachers were affected by their attacks, according to a news agency.
Following the outbreak of the insects, the college has been declared closed.
Nahid said there is nothing to be panicked about the insects. “I’m requesting all to remain alert.”
He also said necessary steps will be taken so that insects cannot spread to other places.
The minister said four expert teams –- one each from Dhaka University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Heath Ministry -– visited the Home Economics College and collected specimens.
