Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, urged Monday the people to remain alert against the quarters using religion for their narrow political interest, reports BSS.
"We must create awareness against the quarters using religion to destroy communal harmony in a planned way for their political gains," he said while speaking at a discussion in the city.
Referring to the removal of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique from the cabinet for his recent comments on 'Hajj and Tablig Jamaat', Dr Hasan said, "Such decision of the cabinet, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, further proved that none will go unpunished if he or she hurts the religious sentiment of the people."
'Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad (BSP)' organised the discussion on "Accurate Leadership of Bangabandhu's Daughter Sheikh Hasina and Development of Country and Nation" at the Khawja Nazimuddin Auditorium at Segunbagicha with Hasibur Rahman Manik, adviser to the BSP and assistant-secretary of Awami League (AL) sub-committee, in the chair.
Dr Hasan, also former environment and forest minister, said the country is marching towards development due to efficient leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country has reached the highway of development meantime.
He called upon all people to forge unity to ensure the country's ongoing development activities.
