Remain careful about Ebola: WHO DG

Visiting Director General of World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Margaret Chan has urged Bangladesh to remain careful about Ebola virus. Highly praising Bangladesh for its achievements in the health sector, Dr Chan said other countries in South-East Asia can follow Bangladesh in this field. ‘Every country in this region can share and follow Bangladesh in the health sector,’ she said while paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at hotel Sonargaon after the inaugural session of the WHO South-East Asia regional meeting. The Prime Minister thanked the WHO DG for holding the WHO South-East Asia region health ministers meeting in Dhaka. She also recalled the support of WHO in implementation of Bangladesh’s health programmes. Hailing Bangladesh's success in the healthcare services of women and children, Dr Chan said people of this region wll remember Sheikh Hasina forever for her leading role in the health sector. Dr Chan also urged Bangladesh to remain careful about Ebola virus and take necessary preparatory measures to contain the infectious virus, according to a news agency.
