Remittance amounts to $968m in nine days

The country received $968.64 million in  remittance in the first 19 days of the current month of June. Bangladesh Bank statistics show the four state-owned commercial banks  -- Agrani, Janata, Rupali and Sonali -- received $308.44 million from  the expatriate Bangladeshis while four state-owned specialised banks  got $10.88 million. The maximum remittance came through the private commercial banks, which brought in $639.89 million while the nine foreign banks processed only $9.43 million. Among the private commercial banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited  (IBBL) led the remittance earning as it received the highest  remittance of $251.23 million, followed by National Bank Limited  (NBL) with $42.48 million. Of the state-owned banks, Agrani Bank received $117.37 million, Sonali Bank $89.28 million, Janata Bank $85.30 million and Rupali  Bank 16.49 million. Among other private banks who are in the leading positions in earning  remittance include Uttara Bank ($42.31 million), Pubali Bank ($36.25 million), Dutch-Bangla Bank ($29.82 million), Bank Asia ($29.24 million), Trust Bank ($17.22 million), Prime Bank ($23.78 million), BRAC Bank ($17.65 million) and AB Bank ($12.67 million).
