Remittance inflow $927.60mn

The remittance inflow to the country during the first 21 days of the current month showed an encouraging sign, totaling US$927.60 million till February 21. The remittance inflow last month (January) totaled $1,260.66 million, according to the latest data provided by the Bangladesh Bank (BB). The central bank data showed that some $14,461.14 million came as remittance in the last fiscal year (2012-13). It also showed that of the total remitted amount during the 21 days of February, the highest $610.49 million came through the private commercial banks. This was followed by $296.78 million through four state-owned commercial banks, $10.85 million through four specialised banks and $9.48 million through foreign commercial banks operating in Bangladesh, according to UNB.
