Removal of animal waste from DNCC areas completed

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has completed removal of waste of sacrificial animals from areas under its jurisdiction on Saturday, while Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) expects to complete the task on Sunday, officials have said.
DNCC's chief conservancy officer Captain Bipon Kumar Saha said that wastes of sacrificial animals had been removed from areas under the jurisdiction of the corporation within 6pm on Saturday.
On the other hand, DSCC’s chief conservancy officer Captain Raquib Uddin said, "Wastes of animals sacrificed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha could be removed from over 50 per cent areas under the jurisdiction of the city corporation so far. The animal wastes would be removed from the remaining areas by Sunday." He said the DSCC had to face some problems in the special conservancy drive for removal of wastes of sacrificial animals as there were rains before the Eid festival that caused stockpiling of mud in the temporary cattle markets. "That's why we have been facing problem while more time is being consumed to remove the mud from the cattle markets," Captain Raquib added.

On Friday, DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the special conservancy drive for removal of wastes of sacrificial animals at Dholaikhal Sadek Hossain Khoka Playground at about 2pm while almost at the same time DNCC mayor Annisul Huq inaugurated the drive at the cattle market located between Uttara Sector-15 and Uttara Sector-16 setting a target to complete the drive within 48 hours, according to BSS.
