Removal of Prof Yunus

Friday, 4 March 2011

There is a joke regarding Bangladeshis which is very popular among common people. It is like this that a person while visiting the hell of different nationals observed that heavy guards were deployed so that no one can flee whereas there was a hell which had no guard deployed at all. The surprised man wanted to know from the accompanying angel as to why no guard was deployed to that particular hell. The angel smiled and replied that this is the hell where Bangladeshis are placed and they require no guard. When the man asked to explain what he wants to say, the angel elaborated. He said that Bangladeshis are so jealous a nation that they even cannot tolerate any good coming to their fellow nationals. So, there was no need to place any guards as whenever a Bangladeshi wants to come out of the hell other Bangladeshis pull him back. With the removal of Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Bangladeshis have again proved that. The Bangladeshis have become so sensitive regarding 'legality' issue whereas they have been termed champion of corruption several times. Ershad, who is the black spot in the history of Bangladesh's democracy, has been dropped off from a corruption case as he is a close ally to the present government. Whereas Prof Yunus, who has earned global recognition for Bangladesh, has been removed form his well earned position. Kazi Ahmed Toronto, Canada E-mail : kaziahmed@rogers.com
