Renovation of Barisal river port continues

BARISAL, Mar 19 (BSS): The renovation work of Barisal river port, the second largest river port in the country, is developing fast. Work on two development and modernisation packages, out of three, has already been completed in the port and the implementation of the last package-construction of pontoon, is now going on. The Tk 176-million river port modernisation project include land development, dredging, and construction of a two-storied terminal building, parking yard, pontoon, electric display board, gangway, passenger shed, first aid centre and flower garden. The project is scheduled to end in June this year. So far, 78 per cent work has been completed in the first package that includes land development, dredging and terminal building construction. The construction of parking yard, wall, passenger shed and electric display board has been completed under the second package.
