Reopen universities

Thursday, 6 September 2007

We the general students of Dhaka University make an earnest appeal to the government to reopen all public universities and colleges without delay to save us from falling into another trouble of session jam in the days ahead.
Thousands of students of the now-closed educational institutions in six divisional cities of the country like us are keenly waiting for reopening of their campuses to take classes and sit for the deferred-examinations immediately.
The government may take stern actions against the troublemakers who wanted to gain political benefit using the trifle incident between several students and army personnel on Dhaka University campus but can't keep the institutions closed sine die.
We, who hail from the rural areas and very poor families, are to maintain ourselves and meet studies' expenses by doing tuition in the city. But we can survive no longer as we can't accommodate us in any place in the city due to the university's residential halls remaining closed in the backdrop of the August-20 turmoil.
Therefore, we ask the government for initiating an urgent measure to make us free from undergoing any more session jam by reopening all universities and colleges at once.
