FE REPORT
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said on Monday that the report run by a section of media on the formation of a new party by BNP leader Maj (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed is just the reflection of a failed project of the government.
"What the government attempted has suffered failure. The government had taken a project just before the election (held on January 7, 2024). After the failure of the project, it (government) has taken another project with Mr Hafiz (Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed) that reflects government's failure," he said.
He made the comments while talking to the media while visiting party's just released Executive Committee member Sheikh Rabiul Alam Robi in his city residence.
Earlier Mr Moyeen Khan also visited joint convener of Dhaka north BNP Anwaruzzaman, who was recently released from jail, in his house in the capital.
"The government has staged a farcical election (on January 7, 2024)," he said.
"We (BNP and other opposition parties) also seek our friend countries' help. If the ruling Awami League sought friend countries' help, then it was just for establishing one party rule in Bangladesh. But we want friend countries' help for different reason.... and that is to establish a democratic government. We don't want enmity with anyone," he said.
