Rescheduling TV programme timing
Friday, 26 December 2014
About two dozen television channels are in operation in the country. But as a moderately regular viewer of TV, I think, timing of some programmes needs to be changed. For example, prime news time should be between 5 pm and 9 pm. Several channels telecast news bulletins at 5 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm, but as a viewer, timing of news bulletins may be set at 15 minutes' intervals so that one can watch news at definite time intervals.
Similarly health programmes are telecast on fixed days and time, but some channels do not stick to designated days and time for which a lot of viewers are deprived of those important programmes. Health is the most precious wealth for every human being and these programmes are very helpful, particularly for the elderly people.
Islamic programmes on some channels start at 12-30 pm on Fridays which is not the best time for such programmes. Because, it is at this time that devotees are found to be preparing for joining Friday prayers. Programmes on cooking are held at the same time on various channels and thus many viewers are deprived of many of those programmes.
As a viewer, one feels that some changes in timings of TV programmes should be made to suit the needs of the interested viewers. I would request the TV channels to take my views into consideration and make some adjustments in their programme timing so that the viewers really get benefits from these programmes.
