Saturday, 17 May 2014

Family members of a missing ruling party leader and locals on Saturday demanded that he be traced and rescued immediately. The demand was made from a human chain formed at Siddhirganj Power Station. Speaking at the human chain programme, victim’s wife Josna Begum alleged that the three Rab officials sacked for their alleged link to the seven murders had also kidnapped Kanchpur union Awami League (AL) leader Ismail Hossain to realise Tk 20 million as ransom. She said former CO of Rab-11 Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana abducted her husband from Siddhirganj on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on February 10. After the abduction, Josna claimed, then Rab-11 CO Lt Col Tareque sent a letter written by Isamil to them by two members of the elite force demanding Tk 20 million in ransom for his release, according to a news agency.
