Rescuing Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia

Thursday, 23 January 2014

The Malaysian government has started a massive crackdown on illegal migrant workers staying there without proper documentation and visa. Malaysia has already detained many illegal migrants and soon they will be deported to their respective countries.
There are many Bangladeshis, amongst the detainees, staying their illegally. Many of the Bangladeshis have gone there spending huge amount of money and if they are deported, they will be in deep crisis. They would not be allowed to re-enter Malaysia as their identities would be recorded in the biometric database system. I think , the government needs to talk to the government of Malaysia and request them to legalise the illegal Bangladeshi workers so that they can stay and work there.
At present, thousands of Bangladeshis are staying and working there without visa and work permit. If they come back to our country, the economy will suffer and the deportees will also face financial uncertainty. Our foreign ministry should urgently take up the matter for discussion with their Malaysian counterparts and help thousands of Bangladeshi migrants spending anxious time in Malaysia.
