Reserve seat: 2 nominations cancelled

The Election Commission has cancelled the nomination papers of two candidates for the seats kept aside for women in Parliament on charge of telephone default. They are Awami League candidate Sabiha Nahar and Jatiya Party contender Khorshed Ara Haque. Returning officer Jesmin Tuli cancelled the nominations of the duo after scrutiny on Tuesday, said EC official Farhad Hossain. He said Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL) owes Sabiha Nahar Tk 11,835 while Khorshed Ara Haque Tk 223,488 as telephone bill, according to UNB.
