Residents suffer as gas supply falters in Ctg

Supply of gas to the households in Chittagong city has worsened and added to consumers’ suffering. For the straight third day, households in most areas of the port city did not get natural gas. Gas supply falling below demand has hampered industrial production as well. On Monday, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) General Manager (Engineering) Matiur Rahman said only 188 million cubic feet (cft) gas was supplied to Chittagong against the daily demand of 480 million cft. The supply was 228 million cft on Sunday. Gas supply to household in the port city were very low on Tuesday morning. The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) expressed concern over the fall of industrial production due to reduced supply. On Monday, two of four power generation plants in the port city had been shut down following gas shortage, according to bdnews24.com.
