Resignation drama ends Sohel Taj joins office

Friday, 5 June 2009

State Minister for Home Affairs Tanjim Ahmad Sohel Taj resumed office Thursday, ending a three-day drama over his resignation, reports UNB.
"Actually, I could not turn up to the office due to my sickness. I'm feeling better today (Thursday) and decided to join office," told reporters after the joining at 11:45am, terming the news regarding his resignation 'baseless'.
"I know nothing about resignation…what you are asking me about," he said, replying to a question. "I was sick and still I'm sick."
Reportedly, Taj submitted his resignation but changed mind following a request from Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina. He had a long meeting with the PM Wednesday night.
Asked whether he was facing non-cooperation from his Cabinet colleagues, he said that all of his colleagues were working hard to bring changes.
"We're not happy over the present situation. We want change and it should come first from the people of society," said the state minister, adding that each of the steps followed the election manifesto of the ruling party.
Taj said he was granted leave but changed mind as the 2nd session of the parliament began Thursday. "I'll join the parliament and I'll go on leave later."
