Speakers at a meeting in Rangpur city have called upon all concerned, including common people, for resisting social erosions to ensure peace in the society. Addressing the meeting as the chief guest Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu said all necessary steps would be taken involving the common people to root out social crimes. He declared fight against all sorts of crimes including thefts, mugging, robbery and drug abuse to ensure peace and safer movements for the city dwellers. He also reiterated his pledge for fulfilling demand of the people by bringing supply of natural gas through pipelines to socio-economically backward Rangpur region to create more job opportunities and accelerate industrialisation and development of the region. Seeking cooperation of all people in ensuring peace in the society through rooting out crimes, Police Super Abdur Razzaque said the criminals, involved with various criminal activities, are being arrested soon after such incidents. General Secretary of Rangpur Press Club Wadud Ali, social worker Saber Hossain, freedom fighter Abdur Rouf and Golam Rabbani addressed the meeting as the special guests, according to a news agency.
