Respecting our elders

Friday, 29 April 2022

Our senior citizens are a crucial part of our lives. They guide us with their wisdom and experience throughout our lives. But unfortunately, many of today's generation do not treat them appropriately. There are a number of youths who consider the elders a burden on them and often send them to old-age homes without even asking what they want.
Old-age homes are built for senior citizens to stay and enjoy with other companions but people have found it to be a way to get rid of the so-called 'burden' caused by the elders. If people like us stop thinking of our seniors as a burden and start giving them the respect and value they deserve, we will understand how they are a blessing to us rather than a burden. We should try to take out some time to spend with them and try to make them happy. Children should spend some time with their grandparents. It will make the elders happy and they will learn moral values from them which will be a valuable gift to help them throughout their lives. Just a few small steps from our side will make the elders feel happy and wanted.
