Restrictions on rallies in city likely

Saturday, 1 November 2014

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Friday the government was considering restricting all kinds of rallies and processions in the capital to weekends in a bid to ease nagging traffic congestions in the city, reports UNB.
"As we want to minimise traffic jams in the city, we're thinking of banning all kinds of rallies and processions except for weekends,'' he said.
The minister was addressing a rally organised by the voluntary organisation LionAid on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city. Obaidul also noted that Suhrawardy Udyan will be divided into four parts for holding rallies and other programmes there.
