Retail sales of accommodation, catering industry to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan

BEIJING, June 16 (CEIS): The retail sales of accommodation and catering industry in China totaled 486.37 billion yuan in the first five months of this year, up 17.8 per cent year on year.
It is expected that the retail sales of the industry will top 581. 2 billion yuan in the first half of this year and 1.22 trillion yuan in the whole year of 2007, to hit new historical high.
Sources of Commercial Reform Department of the Ministry of Commerce disclosed that retail sales of the industry made up 13.9 per cent of the total retail sales of consumer goods of China in the first five months, booting up growth of retail sales of consumers goods by 2.4 per centage points and contributing to 15.9 per cent of the growth of total retail sales of consumer goods.
China newly approved establishment 334 foreign-invested enterprises in the sector in the first five months, down 21 per cent year on year; the contractual foreign capital involved was 950 million dollars, down 10.9 per cent; and the amount of foreign capital actually used, 310 million dollars, up 8.7 per cent.
As for operation of accommodation and catering enterprises above the quota, the operating turnover totaled 142.94 billion yuan in the first five months, up 18.8 per cent year on year.
