Retrenched Ittefaq employees demand payment of arrears

Journalists, employees and workers of The Daily Ittefaq who were retrenched recently by the newspaper management demanded payment of their arrears without further delay.
They made the demand from a meeting, held at the National Press Club with Ziaul Haque in the chair.
The meeting warned the management of The Daily Ittefaq of launching a greater movement if it tries to retrench journalists, employees and workers further.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by former president of the Bangladesh Federal Unions of Journalists (BFUJ) Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, general secretary Ruhul Amin Gazi and Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, Dhaka Union of Journalists president Abdus Shaheed and general secretary Omar Faruque and Baker Hossain, president of Federal Union of Newspapers Press Workers Fazle Imam, secretary general Abul Hashem, president of Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Karmachari Federation Matiur Rahman Talukder, secretary general Khairul Islam.
During the meeting the journalists, employees and workers formed a 7-member committee of 'Doinik Ittefaq Chakurichuto Shangbadik Sromik Kormochari Shongram Parishad".
Md. Fazle Imam and Jahanara Begum have been made convener and member-secretary of the committee. Other members are joint secretaries Shilbrata Barua and Md Matiur Rahman Talukder, joint-member secretary Golam Sarwar Azad and members Al Mujahidi and Aftab Hossain.
