Return hajj flights begin Thursday

The return hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd to carry home the Bangladeshi hajjis from Saudi Arabia will begin on Thursday. The first return hajj flight, ‘BG-2012’, carrying 419 Bangladeshi hajjis will take off from Jeddah at 10:30am local time, said a Biman press release on Tuesday. The national flag carrier will operate a total of 134 flights to bring back 50 percent Bangladeshi hajjis. The return hajj flight will end on November 8. This year, the hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd began on August 27 and continued till September 28. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi hajjis will now be allowed to carry maximum 47kg of goods on the return flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Saudi Arabia. According to a new decision of the government, each hajji will be eligible to carry maximum 40 kg in checked baggage while rest 7 kg in hand-held baggage, according to a news agency.
