AFTER coming out of exam hall, students, in many cases, regret that if they could write better in the exam, they could perform much better in that particular subject. What usually happens is students have studied throughout the semester or year, but have got little time to revise and review what they have studied. In order to come out of such pathetic situation, students can review their courses everyday.
How to review courses/subjects everyday especially when one has some urgent and new study materials to study everyday?
You can allocate separate timing for reviewing all the courses. You can name this as 'REVIEW TIME' in your routine. This review period can be 120 minutes, 60 minutes, 30 minutes or even as less as 15 minutes everyday-this will depend on how much time you can spare for this special task. The more time you can spend for reviewing courses, the better results you will get. At this time you will think deeply about the contents of almost all the courses and glance through the books or notes.
When you will review all your courses everyday, you will feel you are more confident. You will probably feel that you have already studied much and such a feeling will help you to study even much more seriously in order to have a full grasp of the subject-both for clear concept and doing good in the exam.
While reviewing your courses everyday if you feel that your grasp of the study materials is not sufficient, you will be alert. You will feel the need to concentrate better. You will be motivated to increase your study hours.
Such reviewing habit will keep you updated on your preparation of lessons for all the courses. Sometimes students, in the class room situation for example, cannot tell anything if they are asked from old lessons. This may be for the reason that they have not revised lessons recently. If you are on the habit of revising courses everyday, you will be able to respond to teacher's questions efficiently.
Psychologists say that when we learn new things, we tend to forget old things. Habit of revising will help you remember old things better.
Revising courses everyday helps you to maintain mastery of the previous chapters. When you have good understanding of the previous chapters, it becomes very helpful for you to understand new chapters.
Reviewing old lessons everyday also makes you prepared for the examination. Students usually take this for granted that they would spend one month prior to the exam for revision and so they leave every lesson learned for revision for that special one month. In reality, they might fall sick, they might face some family accident or anything as such. In order to avoid such unpleasant situations, the habit of revising courses everyday can be very helpful.
When you revise courses, you can connect the ideas of the various courses better. When you know how to link ideas, you can answer the questions in the exam hall in a more mature way.
Just if you do not like the idea of revising courses everyday, you can revise your courses on weekly basis. That will also be helpful for you to keep yourself on the line.
So while the habit of revising and reviewing everyday or alternatively every week has multiple benefits, why not develop this habit from today ?
