FE Special
SHAMIM is a student of class eight in a high school. He works very hard all the year long. He finishes lessons of every course before final examination, but he spends little time in revising the chapters. What happens is in the exam hall he faces difficulty in reproducing the answers. He finds it difficult to remember everything he requires. He appears the exam moderately and has to be satisfied with moderate result.
There are many students who study hard throughout the year but spend insufficient time in revising the lessons. Making a good result always becomes a difficult task for them.
Revision is important for grasping any lesson. The fact is that we tend to forget 80% of what we have learned today if we do not revise it today. Also, we tend to forget 100% of the lesson we have learned if we do not revise it one or two weeks after we have learned the lesson.
Just as initiatives and efforts are crucial for learning any new lesson, so also being proactive for revising the same is important. What students need for revising a lesson is patience. Just if they can revise the lessons learned with a little bit of patience, they will be able to make the study hours of the day more effective.
Revision at the end of preparing every lesson will help them place the information in their brains in due order. If a student studies a particular chapter of the science book for two hours, he or she should keep ten minutes for revising the chapter.
Revision at the end of the day will give the student good feeling. They will be able to assess the achievement of the day.
Revision at the end of the week will help students remember the lessons better, they will also be able to assess their achievement of the week.
The more the students will revise, the better they will be able to connect ideas of one chapter with another, of one course with another. The more they can connect knowledge in this way, the more holistic knowledge they will have and they can respond better in the examinations.
