Rewards for failures!

Sunday, 14 March 2010

While the common people groan under the growing burden of essential prices the Prime Minister, the ministers, the President and the lawmakers have got their emoluments nearly doubled, according to media reports.
But what have these lucky people done to get the raise? Nothing, for sure. When the country has been starving for electricity they could do nothing in 14 months. Essential prices are skyrocketing after a temporary lull. The less said about law and order, the better. The economy is suffering due to insufficient investments. In sum, this government is woefully short in delivering much of what it pledged to the people. It created an unenviable record, so far, of unfulfilled election time pledges.
If the leading lights in the government have any conscience, they should reverse the decisions to double their emoluments. They should do this to take the responsibility of their failures. They should understand that they should not reward themselves for their failures.
