Riad Mahmud Chowdhury joins Standard Islami Bank as MD

Riad Mahmud Chowdhury has joined Standard Islamic Bank as the managing director. Prior to this, he served as deputy managing director & head of corporate banking at Eastern Bank, according to a press release.
Chowdhury began his banking career in 2000 as a senior officer at IFIC Bank. Subsequently, he worked at AB Bank before joining Eastern Bank in 2004. In his more than 26 years of illustrious career in banking, he has demonstrated remarkable success in managing large corporate portfolios and non-performing loan as well as developing specialised Islamic banking frameworks. He was also sucessful in implementing digital cross-border trade solutions. He obtained his B.Com & M.Com in finance from the University of Dhaka and later completed his MBA, also in finance from IBA of the same university. He holds internationally recognised certification in commercial credit analysis from Moody's and Omega Corporation (UK).
The board of the bank is confident that under Chowdhury's dynamic leadership and modern banking vision, the bank will achieve new milestones and strengthen its position as a leading shariah-based financial institution in Bangladesh.
