Rice price rising in Bogra, onion sharply declines

BOGRA, Dec 5: Onion price has sharply declined while price of rice is increasing gradually at the local markets of Bogra.
Onion is selling at Tk 28-30 per kg compared to last week's price of Tk 55-60. Following the withdrawal of embargo on onion export by neighbouring India, price of onion declined sharply, sellers explained. Newly harvested local onion is also now available in the markets but it is selling at a slightly higher rate of Tk 32-34 per kg.
In spite of the arrival of newly harvested rice in the market, the price of rice is increasing in Bogra.
Rice price increased by Tk 3 to 5 per kg within the last l5 days.
Coarse rice is now selling at Tk 26 per kg whereas 15 days ago it was sold at 2l Tk. Minicate is now being sold at Tk 35, BR at Tk 30 and Red Paijam at Tk 35 per kg while all of them were being sold a couple of weeks before at 3 taka less. New coarse rice is selling at Tk 25 per kg and Swarna is selling at Tk 26 per kg.
