Rickshawpuller killed for only Tk 2

PABNA, Oct 23: A rickshawpuller was beaten to death for only Tk. 2 at Jugipara mohallah in Pabna municipal area on Saturday afternoon.
The victim Hassan Mollah Hassu, 45, son of Johir Uddin of village Goyeshpur in Pabna Sadar upzila, was a professional rickshaw puller, family sources said. He was living with his family members at Jugipara village of Pabna municipality area.
Police and the family sources said a young man with his girl friend hired his rickshaw from Jugipara mohallah at about 12pm. They left his rickshaw at Jugipara Khal area. As the rickshaw puller demand Tk. 7 they gave Tk. 5 which sparked an exchange of hot words.
Angry passengers then beat up the rickshaw puller and left him critically injured. He was admitted to Pabna Medical College hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 5 pm on that day. Police sent the body to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sub-Inspector of Pabna Sadar police station Abdul Hakim said that police arrested Keka Begum, the female passenger of the rickshaw while the main attacker is went into hiding.
Mohir Uddin, elder brother of the victim said that Hassu was professional rickshaw puller living in Jugupara village for 15 years. He was maintaining his four-member's family, he said adding the killing of Hassu brings a bleak future for his poor family. He demanded the punishment of the culprit.
3 PBCP men arrested
Police arrested three operatives of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajudhha) from two places at Santhia upazila of Pabna on Saturday night in different raids. The arrestees were sent to Pabna court on Sunday and the police asked for 7 days' remand.
The arrestees are identified as Akkas Ali, 25, Abdus Salam, 30, of Sonakandi Bil and Nazml Haque, 25, of village Koromza in the Santhia upazila.
The arrestees are hardened operatives of PBCP Janajudhha and accused in several cases including for murder.
