Rising number of kidney patients
Sunday, 9 November 2014
The number of kidney patients is increasing everyday in our country. Indiscriminate use of chemicals in food items is the prime reason for it. If the present trend of kidney diseases continues, it will be catastrophic.
Every year, the second Thursday of March, is observed as 'Kidney Day' throughout the world to create awareness among the common people so that they are not affected by this fatal
disease.
The people who are suffering from obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes, are vulnerable to kidney diseases. We must consult doctors and check the status of our kidneys periodically. Side by side, we must increase our physical activities, give up smoking and lead a healthy life so that the threats of kidney diseases can be averted.
The government has a big role to play in this respect. It should take a tough stand against food adulteration and ensure food safety. A large-scale social campaign should also be undertaken to make the common people aware of the dangers of chemical-laden foods.
