Rivals hack BNP leader dead in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Apr 7 (UNB): A local BNP leader was hacked to death by his rivals at Jugirhuda village in Alamdanga upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased identified as Helalul Islam Helal, son of Eldil Biswas, was vice-president of Khadimpur union BNP of the upazila.
Quoting locals, Kalimullah, additional superintendent of Chuadanga police, said some miscreants numbering 4/5 attacked Helal in his paddy field around 9am and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he died on way to hospital.
Victim's wife Razia Khatun alleged that police had arrested their neighbour and also a listed drug trader Manik along with Yaba pills few days ago. Manik blamed Helal for his arrest and threatened him in several ways.
The police official said that two police teams are working to arrest Manik.
